LTV Show – Interview with Activists Jawar Mohammed – Part 2

LTV’s Temesgen Mengiste interviews Oromia Media Network (OMN) CEO and Oromo rights activist Jawar Mohammed for his show, Wektawe. Jawar has talked about the reform movement that is currently taking place in Ethiopia that he has described as slowing down after initially igniting a mass euphoria.

Jawar, one of the leading organizers of the Oromo protests that forced the ruling party to change leadership, has said that there is a great hope Ethiopia is on a path of democracy while pointing out that the current government is unable to contain clashes and disturbances in several parts of the country. He explained that he is on board with the reform agenda of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. He expressed support for the actions the Prime Minister is taking to bring to justice human rights violators and corrupt government officials. Asked what he is currently doing, Jawar has said that he is shifting his attention from resistance politics to governance politics.
