Haile G/Selassie says he has submitted his resignation as the president and chairman of Ethiopian Athletics Federation. HIs announcement comes amid administration crisis and unrest in the Athletics of Ethiopia, which has been trying of many strategies to ease the tension.
Haile G/Selassie is a retired Ethiopian long-distance runner and he is well known by winning world and Olympic records over and over again. He won two Olympic gold medals over 10,000 meters and four world championships titles in the event. He won the Berlin Marathon four times consecutively and also had three straight wins at the Dubai marathon. Further to this he won four world titles indoors and was the 2001 world half-marathon champion. He broke 61 Ethiopian national records ranging from 800 meters to the marathon, set 27 world records and widely regarded as the greatest distance runner in history.
Great Haile G/Selassie has been elected president of the Ethiopian Athletics Federation, as the country grapples with doping issues and poor results on the truck.
